Feeding Knowledge's final paper is now online!

Feeding Knowledge is the result of a long term reflection on one of the major challenges for sustainable development: guaranteeing safe, accessible, nutritious and sufficient food to everyone on the planet. 
In this context, Feeding Knowledge represents a good practice on the creation of a sound knowledge system for food security in the Mediterranean region: a unique laboratory to test the effectiveness of innovative solutions for sustainable development.
The final paper of the project is now online.
This book collects several papers developed within the Programme, giving an overview on Feeding Knowledge philosophy, methodology, activities, achievements and future perspectives.

Sumforest Summer School for Young Researchers

The Summer School “Practical approaches to transnational research proposal writing in the area of sustainable forest management” (27-29 June 2017, Minsk - Belarus) is designed for early stage researchers (Master degree or PhD not more than 5 years ago) from North Africa Mediterranean, EaP countries and Russia, working on the forest thematic or a related area.

Action for Food Security and Nutrition in Protracted Crises

The objective of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) Framework for Action for Food Security and Nutrition in Protracted Crises (CFS-FFA, the Framework) is to improve the food security and nutrition of populations affected by, or at risk of, protracted crises by addressing critical manifestations and building resilience; adapting to specific challenges; and contributing to addressing underlying causes.
The CFS-FFA is a short document that provides a broad framework that can be used by all stakeholders who may have a role in improving or impacting food security and nutrition in protracted crises.

Climatic constraints, especially the scarcity of water and land resources have always been characteristic of Mediterranean agricultural systems that have developed ingenious farming systems to adapt.
Today, the resilience of these systems is challenged since climatic disruptions will generate different conditions for agricultural production throughout the region and will impact the availability and quality of water, the environment, forests and biodiversity, plant and animal production, the dissemination of agricultural and animal diseases as well as the food security of populations, especially the vulnerable ones in rural areas.

Social innovation in Marginalised Rural Areas

SIMRA seeks to advance understanding of social innovation and innovative governance in agriculture, forestry and rural development, and how to boost them, particularly in marginalised rural areas across Europe, with a focus on the Mediterranean region (including non-EU) where there is limited evidence of outcomes and supporting conditions.
The first SITT SIMRA* Workshop will take place in Bratislava, Slovakia, from 26 to 28 October 2016 and is organized by the Institute of Forest Ecology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in cooperation with the James Hutton Institute (Aberdeen, UK).
The workshop is considered to be an important starting point for the co-construction of knowledge with key stakeholders and its aim is to develop and maintain systematic knowledge exchange and a learning process via stakeholders’ consultations focusing on understanding and assessing social innovations.

Sustainable Agrifood Value Chains in the Mediterranean Region

IFAD Flagship Event: International conference on innovative approaches to inclusive financing for rural transformation, Rome 2-4 November, 2016

This international conference brings together policy and decision-makers, representatives of Government organisations, the private sector, research and academic institutions, multilateral and bilateral development organisations, civil society and others for two days of solutions-focused events and discussion.
The conference begins with an inaugural session at the Italian Ministry of Finance on 2 November.
