SEED SPEAKER: Prof. Sandro Dernini (Coordinator of the Forum on Mediterranean Food Cultures- FAO Consultant) Short bio
received his Doctor's degree in Biology from the University of Cagliari (Italy) and his Ph.D. from the New York University (USA). Since 2002, he is the coordinator of the Forum on Mediterranean Food Cultures. Since 2009, he is a FAO consultant on sustainable diets and sustainable food systems. From 2006 to 2012, he was the scientific coordinator of the International Interuniversity Centre for Mediterranean Food Cultures Studies (CIISCAM), and, from 2007 to 2010, he was the head of the technical office of the president of the Italian National Research Institute on Food and Nutrition. Dr. Dernini is a member of the international committee of the Foundation for the Advancement of the Mediterranean Diet, of the International Society for the Advancement of Living Traditions in Art, of the ONG Nutrition without Borders (Nutricion sins Fronteras).
